Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project — published, submitted, in progress, for your cat — whatever.
Getting back to trope bingo now - came up with a Calvin and Hobbes idea for my ‘amnesia’ square. Calvin hit a tree while going in his toboggan, and hit his head pretty hard. Now…he doesn’t remember anybody.
“Would you like Hobbes to keep you company while your father and I talk a bit more to the doctor?”
“Who’s Hobbes?” he asked.
“Who’s Hobbes?” he asked.
She pointed toward the table, concern creasing her brow. “Hobbes. Your tiger.”
“Oh, the stuffed tiger’s mine?”
While Calvin still had some missing spots in his vocabulary, he was reasonably sure the look that passed between the people claiming to be his parents was called ‘horror’.
