This went much quicker than I expected.  It helps that several of these are quite short.

Not really sure on the name here, but I haven’t found a better one yet. Steve and Darcy, filling the cotton candy bingo prompt ‘wearing pajamas all day’.

She sat next to him on the couch; he was still dressed in his pajama pants, and she had to fight not to get distracted by the view of him shirtless with a day and a half’s stubble covering his face. On the table in front of him lay old pictures and newspaper clippings, organized into folders. She recognized the names on the folders - Dum-Dum, Morita, Barnes. Old comrades, now gone. “What’s this for?” she asked. “Why the sudden bout of nostalgia?”

Into The Arena (T; Avengers; Steve/Darcy; 1663 words)

Summary: Darcy has been kidnapped to another world by Loki and forced to fight in an arena. Her SHIELD training has kept her alive so far, but Loki’s done playing now... Trope bingo: hurt/comfort; Kink bingo: ropes/chains.

This completes my second trope bingo for this round, and my first-ever kink bingo.

Today we get a chunk from an upcoming Steve/Darcy fic that fills both the ‘ropes/chains’ spot on my kink bingo board and the ‘hurt/comfort’ spot on my trope bingo board. At this point, Darcy has been kidnapped by Loki and brought to an alien world.

They’d put her in the arena four times already, and she’d won every time. Loki had been amused, and then confused, and then annoyed, and then livid. He’d kidnapped her away from her apartment - on her day off, even, as she’d been preparing for another not-a-date with Steve that would be filed as “cultural literacy” - and presented her to these aliens as a human warrior. Her easy defeat would show the aliens how simple conquering the Earth would be, especially with Loki leading them.

Except she hadn’t been defeated. She’d used every advantage she could, and all the training she’d been able to pick up in her six months as SHIELD’s Avengers liaison. Natasha’s brutal-but-effective hand-to-hand lessons and Clint’s demonstration that everything could be a ranged weapon if used properly had kept her alive so far, but she was hitting the point of exhaustion, and was fairly sure at this point that Loki didn’t want to let her live any longer.

On Thursday, post three things you love about a story.

One of the things I got from Trope Bingo in the first round was my first encounter with Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom and Darcy Lewis shipping. Merideath posted her bingo, and I was thrilled because the stories were both not slash, and in a fandom I had at least passing familiarity with. On top of that, she's quite good at writing, so I found myself flipping through the rest of her stories. And it was there I found Lullabies for Superheroes. This is an absolutely adorable story, in which the Avengers (and Darcy) are coping with Clint and Natasha being de-aged to about 4 and Steve turning into a toddler.

Three things I love about it:
  1. I love the first line. "You know Jane, when I said I wanted to have Captain America's baby I didn't mean this." A beautiful way to start this story - funny once you realize what she means, and yet it also shows the relationship she has - or, more to the point, doesn't yet have - with Steve.
  2. I love how viscerally she portrays the feeling of being overwhelmed that you can get when dealing with kids that age. You're a mess, your surroundings are a mess, the kids are running wild, and you don't even have the energy to care.
  3. I love scenes where two people crushing on each other unexpectedly wake up together, and this one is a great one.

WIP List

Merideath's post got me thinking about making a WIP list.  It's fairly nontrivial.
  • Fletcher-Flynn Foundation:
    1. Quid Pro Quo: Short piece to bring Perry back into play, show some questionable financial decisions on the part of the foundation members, and have a reason for Phineas and Isabella to argue. I tend to play them as far too perfect a couple; need to work on that. About 1/3 written.
    2. And Then There Were Four: Short piece to show where Vanessa fits in with the rest of the Foundation. Minimal piece written.
    3. The Best Part of the Day: Phineas, on waking up in the morning. Minimal piece written.
    4. Millicent: Next major story in the timeline. Millicent sends Ferb's half-siblings to live with him for the summer. Adventure and sibling bonding ensue. About 1 chapter written.
  • Mistletoe/Brother timeline:
    1. Like Father, Like Son (needs a new title): Set a year and a half or so after Like Kissing Her Brother. Vanessa accidentally gets pregnant. Her boyfriend is still in high school. Lawrence flips out with flashbacks to Ferb's birth. Mental outline only.
  • Explicit Stories:
    1. Under Contract: The piece getting the most work right now; likely to be my longest individual story ever written.  Almost 10,000 words so far, and not quite half done. AU-slavery, in which Gretchen gets sold and Vanessa gets framed for a crime she didn't commit. Should cover 'slavefic' on my Trope Bingo board and 'power exchange' on my Kink Bingo board.
    2. Head Games: My first-ever first-person work. Isabella's dealing with some head issues caused by her mother, and isn't sure she can have a sexual relationship at all. Phineas has some ideas that may help. About 1/4 written but needs an overhaul.
    3. Multiplicity: Another ASV Hornet story, set much later. Anna ends up with four copies of Kepheus due to a mat-trans accident. Fills the 'gangbang' square on my Kink Bingo board. About 2/3 written.
    4. Evil Vibrations: The first fanfic I wrote; technically part of the Foundation timeline, but not compliant anymore. Phineas and Isabella having fun in the back yard, while Vanessa tries her hand at evil. Complete but needs massive overhaul.
    5. Thwart Me: Another in the Foundation timeline; Vanessa and Ferb roleplaying a bit. About 1/3 complete.
    6. Untitled Avengers story: Steve and Darcy transported to another world by Loki and captured/enslaved by the natives. Originally planned out for the 'fuck or die' square on my Trope Bingo board. Mentally outlined.
    7. Untitled rope/chains story: Vanessa (or possibly Wendy from Gravity Falls) doing some bondage modeling to put herself through college. Mental outline only.
  • Crossovers/Fusions:
    1. Madness Takes Its Toll: Crossover with Narbonic and Skin Horse. About 2/3 complete at 5000 words.
    2. Phineasific Rim: Fusion with Pacific Rim. Mentally outlined but nothing written down yet.
    3. Untitled Avengers Fusion: Fusion with Avengers. Phineas as Captain America (and Isabella as Darcy!). Cast assigned but no plot yet.
  • Other Stories:
    1. Untitled Six Exposures for Baljeet/Ginger: Per request of another user. Some mental planning, but stuck on it right now.
    2. Just A Hero: Memorial Day story for next year. Maybe 1/2 done.
    3. Beta Reader: Original story deconstructing some A/B/O tropes. Mentally outlined.
    4. Boys and Their Toys: Dark P&F setting where P&F went evil and took over the Tri-State Area. Four character vignettes written, one of which needs to be dumped and replaced; major story to follow, loosely outlined.
    5. Untitled It's Complicated Sequel: In which Phineas and Isabella try to balance their renewed relationship with the needs of starting at separate colleges in a new city. (May end up E-rated, not sure yet.) Mentally outlined.
Assorted others exist only in my 'ideas' file. That's 20 stories, 11 of which have actual text written.

Oy.

Current plan is to finish off the Kink Bingo board with Under Contract, Multiplicity, and the untitled rope/chain story, then get another board and see what I can do with it.

[Edited to add Untitled It's Complicated Sequel.]

Looking forward to this quite a bit, even if I haven't finished up my Avengers/P&F fusion. (...or really even started it, for that matter.)

foobar137: Phineas and Ferb backdrop from live tour (Default)
I know, just yesterday I was commenting that I have seven stories I'm actively pondering, and that number's probably gone up since then - two more FFFF bits are starting to gel.

And I'm starting to get ads that (I assume) are for the forthcoming P&F: Mission Marvel, with Phineas in a Captain America costume and Ferb dressed as Captain Britain.  So I think that if I want to do my Avengers crossover, sooner is probably better than later.

What got me thinking along these lines was the similarities between the typical Darcy/Steve relationship and the Isabella/Phineas relationship, where the women is madly crushing on a guy who she at least sees as too innocent and pure to directly talk to about these things.  So that's the start of our cast - Phineas Flynn as Captain America, Isabella Garcia-Shapiro as the snarky intern.  This totally works for me.

So let's fill in the rest of our cast.  We need a womanizing gadgeteer for Iron Man, and Ferb has been described as a ladies' man, so he's the man in the can.  Baljeet turning into Buford as he hulks out is too appealing to pass up, there's our Hulk.  Vanessa would probably be a good Black Widow, but she's not a redhead - I'm torn on whether to give it to her anyway, or hand it to Candace instead.  Monty would totally be a better Hawkeye than Jeremy - he's even got the acrobat background - so that's another point in Vanessa's favor.  We still need a Thor - I haven't watched the Thaddeus and Thor episode, but hey, the names match, so that's a decent first cut.  (It also gives Thor a villainous brother, which could be useful.)

Supporting characters: my wife's first reaction to this fusion was "Who's Coulson?" and my answer pleased her: Perry.  This makes Major Monogram be Nick Fury, and Carl's female equivalent is Maria Hill.  Gretchen's got reddish hair and gets shipped with Ferb, so she's Pepper Potts.  We can pick somebody to be Jane - any of the Fireside Girls will do, so let's use Adyson.

For an enemy, I don't see how we can pass up Dr. Doomenshmirtz.  (Which would be a point for Candace/Jeremy as BW/Hawkeye, but hey, BW is supposed to have come over from the side of the bad guys, right?)  Normbots instead of Doombots.

So the cast is mostly worked out.  Now I just need to figure out WTF to do with it...
