So I've decided I like 'Scripturi Te Salutant' enough that it's now the blog title both here and on Tumblr. Might drop it to singular, but my Latin is way rusty, so it'll take some effort to do that.

Wednesdays are always rough for writing because I don't get home until about midnight. (Weekly get-together with some friends.) I may decide to stop at a coffee shop instead of running errands this evening between work and meeting up with folks; we'll see. Poked at wording a little, but no major changes. I can't get a word count because I'm on my tablet and the Google Drive app for Android doesn't make it available.

Still need to read some good smut to get ideas for the two skipped scenes. I've got some tabs open at home, but didn't get a chance to read them last night.

[ETA:] The villain's motivation clarified itself better, and I finished Chapter 10 sitting in a Wendy's. Still on the tablet, and I have half an hour before I need to head, so let's see how far we can get in Chapter 11. (I think this will end up back at 12 chapters plus epilogue; I'm pretty sure the missing smut in Chapter 4 will be enough that I need to split it into two chapters.)

[EATA:] Worked through about 80% of the first scene in Chapter 11 before I had to head out. Word count is now at 14822, and I now have three scenes pending that I've skipped. (I realized I needed one in about Chapter 9, so I went back and put in a 'put scene here' marker.) Chapter 11 is my three big climactic scenes - one to resolve the B plot, then one to resolve the A plot, and finally smaller one to resolve the thread connecting the two. Also, checked the chapter lengths and Chapter 4 is over twice as long as any other chapter (3200+ words) and still doesn't have all its smut, so it's going to become two chapters.

On Thursday, post three things you love about a story.

One of the things I got from Trope Bingo in the first round was my first encounter with Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom and Darcy Lewis shipping. Merideath posted her bingo, and I was thrilled because the stories were both not slash, and in a fandom I had at least passing familiarity with. On top of that, she's quite good at writing, so I found myself flipping through the rest of her stories. And it was there I found Lullabies for Superheroes. This is an absolutely adorable story, in which the Avengers (and Darcy) are coping with Clint and Natasha being de-aged to about 4 and Steve turning into a toddler.

Three things I love about it:
  1. I love the first line. "You know Jane, when I said I wanted to have Captain America's baby I didn't mean this." A beautiful way to start this story - funny once you realize what she means, and yet it also shows the relationship she has - or, more to the point, doesn't yet have - with Steve.
  2. I love how viscerally she portrays the feeling of being overwhelmed that you can get when dealing with kids that age. You're a mess, your surroundings are a mess, the kids are running wild, and you don't even have the energy to care.
  3. I love scenes where two people crushing on each other unexpectedly wake up together, and this one is a great one.

Current word count: 15343. Now back to 12 chapters and an epilogue. First scene of chapter 12 written, leaving 2 climactic scenes in chapter 12, 2 wrap-up scene in the epilogue, 1 smut scene in the epilogue, and 3 smut scenes that have been skipped. (A new one got added back in chapter 9 or so, so now we have four in total: 'first-time smut', 'kinky smut', 'non-con smut', and 'celebratory smut'.) Going to go cook dinner, and then hope to work on it some more this evening; ideally, finish chapter 12 and/or a smut scene.

[ETA:] 16057, Chapter 12 done.
