Let me just say: this movie, in and of itself, has entirely justified the creation of the IMAX 3D format. I found myself leaning forward, totally drawn into the movie, several times - I never do that.
I had been wondering if it was 'space' enough for an au: space spot on my trope bingo board; no, although a space AU for it could be interesting. Giant mecha traveling through space, beating up space-sharks.
On the other hand, an au: fusion with P&F...ooh. We've already got the reckless scientist, and the one with the British accent, so there's Phineas and Ferb themselves. Female Japanese pilot...Ginger, that's your cue, unless you're going to let Stacy do it. Pair you up with...oh, let's say Django, just for grins and giggles. I always ship you with Baljeet, let's go for some variety. I'm envisioning a platypus-shaped jaeger for some reason. Need to ponder this some more.
