Sunday Six: Curfew

Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project — published, submitted, in progress, for your cat — whatever.

Brief pause this week to work on a Psychonauts story, a father-daughter story about Truman and Lili set as she approaches adulthood. Because me, it’s Raz/Lili even though Raz never shows up.

Truman Zanotto stared unseeing at the book hovering in front of him. His eyes flicked over to the clock, which read 11:56. As he watched, it flipped to 11:57.

He started, the book falling into his lap, as the door to his quarters slid open and his seventeen-year-old daughter Lili walked in. “You didn’t have to wait up, Dad,” she said with a scowl as the door slid closed behind her.

"You’re early," he said. "I didn’t expect you for another two minutes."

Lili rolled her eyes. “Ha ha, Dad.”
